Performances on ZKM part one

Zagreb Youth Theatre stands out as one of the more dynamic Croatian and regional theaters. From children’s performances to those intended for adults, ZKM has positioned itself as a key player in the European theater scene, emphasizing contemporary interpretations of classics and European dramatic literature. Tickets are now available for the first time through our platform, and below is a brief overview of the performances.

Hello, hello, this is Radio Zagreb

Radio Zagreb announcer Božena Begović remained known only for a distant radio greeting, while her life stayed neglected and hidden from the public eye. This injustice is rectified by director Pavlica Bajsić Brazzoduro’s authorial project, revealing all the life secrets of the incredible woman who wrote one of the most important and poignant pages of emancipation in this region.

12th NIGHT or however you like

12 NIGHT or however you like is a play that emerges from the motifs of William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night or however you like, read from the perspective of gender roles. In Jarzyn’s interpretation, the Renaissance comedy of errors becomes a contemporary tale of love that transcends the boundaries of gender and sexual preferences, changing everything and everyone.

The Wizard of Oz

ZKM’s performance of “The Wizard of Oz” by L. F. Baum, directed by Saša Broz, offers a modern and timely interpretation. Packed with original songs, magical costumes, and exceptional acting, it creates an unforgettable theatrical adventure.

The Bald Soprano

The Bald Soprano addresses the world we find ourselves in today. A world we cannot oppose because we only exist while running in step with it and following its rules—rules of fast production, information overload, aesthetic concerns, and bio-capitalism that offers health at an excessively high price, placing individual success as the fundamental proof of one’s value in society.

It’s Good While We’re Dying in Order

Winner of six prestigious awards, this theatrical miniature, centered around a divorced couple reuniting on stormy nights to see off their son abroad, will captivate you with its sharp wit and unforgettable performances.

My Husband

The humorous and emotional play “My Husband” by Rumena Bužarovska, directed by Dora Ruždjak Podolski, presents a powerful journey in which almost the entire female ensemble of ZKM bravely explores themes of marriage, passion, love, motherhood, and pain.

The Brothers Karamazov

The first part about the destructive Karamazov family, “All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way,” and the second part, “Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way,” about the underprivileged Snegirev family, can be viewed separately, providing a rounded but still only partial story. Alternatively, you can watch both parts to gain a comprehensive understanding of this monumental and powerful work on love, hatred, crime, and redemption that will captivate you throughout.

Euphoria

The play Euphoria is an original project by Ksenija Zec, bringing to the stage the world of the so-called Generation Z—young people raised on digital technology, for whom a way of life and style are inseparable. “Euphoria” aims to understand the moments of happiness and ecstasy they seek and at what cost they achieve it.
