Festivals in September
As summer slowly comes to an end, September is still packed with festivals. Across Croatia, from the mainland to the coast, there will be no shortage of exciting events. To help you choose and maybe discover a new festival, we’ve prepared a brief overview of the events you can visit this September.
Pachakutiq Festival Returns to Komiža
This three-day event will take place from September 5th to 7th at its original location, the magical Kamenice beach on Vis. With sun, sea, and over 18 DJs, an unforgettable experience in the untouched nature of Vis Island awaits you. This year’s headliners include DJ Jock, renowned in Croatia and worldwide, Kirill Kirik, and Len Lewis. Alongside them, the festival offers a diverse mix of styles with performances by artists like Ani, Beepolar, Brale, Chuby, Bronski b2b Herya, Dans Incomod, and many others.
Additionally, 10% of the proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Conservation Fund, so by purchasing a ticket, you’re also helping to protect these magnificent animals.
5 Days and 7 Films
Pachakutiq isn’t the only festival on this beautiful island; on September 6th, another edition of the 35mm Vis Film Festival kicks off, unique for showcasing films on 35mm film reels. This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the Hrid Summer Cinema, celebrating with the screening of the first film ever shown there, Gone with the Wind. In the following days, from September 7th to 10th, 2024, visitors will have the chance to watch the best films by Miloš Forman, along with a gourmet addition, Chocolat, selected by Dieter Kosslick.
In Makarska, there will be no shortage of entertainment for young people, thanks to the organizers of MASU - the Youth Culture Festival. Over two days, September 13th and 14th, this festival in Makarska offers a rich program featuring concerts by popular bands, art workshops, lectures on the importance of mental health, and video screenings.
